I Dreamt Under the Water tells the thrilling story of Antonin (the incredibly handsome Hubert Benhamdine), a young man on the quest for love in northern Paris and its adjoining suburbs. Urban and nocturnal in nature, Antonin embraces the vibrant energy of the city which can lead to some rough, carnal and violent experiences.

Through his experiences he also finds tenderness, support and loyalty from those when he least expects it; showing him humanity’s ability to give a helping hand to one another. The film also stars Christine Boisson, Jean-Michel Fête, Patricia Dagmev, Caroline Ducey (Catherine Breillat’s The Last Mistress) and Franck Victor (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly).

Review

Antonin (the incredibly handsome Hubert Benhamdine), an aspiring musician who also works in a video store, has been harboring an unrequited love for his equally attractive male bandmate. When his “love” dies one night in his arms, the young man’s emotional world begins to crumble, and soon Antonin descends into a shadowy world of Paris nightlife. He indulges his pain by engaging in public gay sex, prostitution and one-night stands until he meets Juliette, an effervescent, attractive woman. But as their passionate affair begins, Antonin notices that his new lover is emotionally unstable. And Antonin’s boss, with whom he has been having a sexual affair, begins to express his emotional desires for the young man. Like his French counterpart, Catherine Breillat, director Hormoz isn’t shy about showing explicit sexual intercourse and creating a tantalizing, sensual soundtrack filled with alternative, electronica and club music. Stylistically shot with a youthful spirit, Hormoz creates a seductively dark world but also reminds us that hope and love sometimes happen with the people you least expect. Coming in 2008 from TLA Releasing is “I Dream Under the Water”, a French film that deals with tolerance and self-discovery, two issues which we all face. The drama is savage and sexual as we follow a young man on his quest for love and his journey into the Paris underground.
Antonin is an extremely handsome young man but love is missing from his life. He searches the north of Paris and the suburbs and watching his quest is watching the city of Paris as it becomes carnal, rough and violent.
We get a chance to see how, when least expected, society provides a helping hand as Anotnin finds tenderness, support and loyalty.
Antonin embraces the vibrancy of Paris

Save your money .....unless you enjoy "watching" a film shot in the dark and in some instances,totally blackout lighting,plus very abrupt scene shifts!
