Synopsis

All about Eve meets The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert in this wickedly funny satire. Rude, crude and truly outrageous, Girls Will Be Girls follows the hilarious exploits of three struggling ‘actresses’ striving for fame and fortune in Hollywood. Evie Harris (Jack Plotnick – Meet the Fockers, Gods and Monsters) is a has-been actress who shares her house with her fragile assistant Coco (Clinton Leupp – "Will & Grace"). When adorable young starlet Varla Jean (Jeffery Roberson) moves in, the ‘women’ collide with riotous results! With razor-sharp wit, this drag homage to Eve Harrington and Margo Channing is a camp classic.

A rude, wicked, hilarious and outrageous tale of three woman (who happen to be played by men) and their collective and personal trials and tribulations within and without the Hollywood machine. Coco (Clinton Leupp - of the famous cum in the eye line in Trick) has dreams of reconnecting with the dreamy doctor that performed her first and second abortions. She's the constant recipient of verbal pummeling by her very evil, very drunk and very horny roommate Evie (Jack Plotnick of the amazing short Evie Harris, Shining Star), a delusional over-the-hill actress who will do just about anything to get back in the biz. And then there is the ravenous Varla (Jeffery Roberson aka Varla Jean Merman) who follows suit with unlikely aspirations and demons of her own. Girls will Be Girls was written and directed by Richard Day, one of the lead writers for the superb satire "The Larry Sanders Show."

Girls will be Girls combines razor-sharp wit with major diva performances to produce what will surely become a queer cult classic. Every detail from the costumes and sets to the music seemed geared towards visual pleasures that only gay men may understand. Invite over a few friends, bake some brownies (or pop the corn) and be prepared for some major belly laughs.

Check out the hidden clips on the DVD:
On the DVD's Main Menu highlight the 'Play' option and press the 'Up' arrow key on your remote control. This should highlight one of three clips available on that side of the screen, all of which can be activated by pressing the 'enter' key.
Now, highlight the 'Subtitles' option on the Main Menu and then press the 'Up' button once more. This will give you access to two more hidden Evie rants.
Finally, go to the 'Special Features' sub menu. Highlight the 'Commentary' option and then press the 'Right' arrow key on your remote control. This will allow you to view even more clips.

“Girls Will Be Girls” is one big laugh fest. I cannot remember when I laughed out loud so much. The cast of three women is played by three men who are full of lust and who have stars in their eyes. We get 80 minutes of high camp contained in homage to bad movies and bad wigs. There is a lot of tasteless humor and silly plot twists as well as over-the-top acting that all works together in a very positive way.
Evie, played by hunky Jack Plotnick, is a washed up B-movie actress who is aging fast and without grace. (I so rememble that remark). She shares her home with Coco (Clinton Leupp) who serves as her maid and is the target of abuse. A new roommate comes into their lives, Varla (Jeffrey Roberson) who is an aspiring starlet and whose mother, Marla, was Evie’s arch rival. All of the three women have dreams—Evie dreams of being able to drink as many martinis as possible and then being able to have sex with anyone and everyone. Coco dreams of the abortion doctor who took care of her several years prior and Varla dreams of becoming an actress—the kind her mother never was. Another character is Evie’s son who despite the fact that he lacks physical sexual endowment is extremely good looking. He has eyes for Varla and she has eyes on her career.
Even though all of the characters are males playing females, they are treated exclusively as females. The camp of the movie does not come from the fact that the men are acting in drag but from the melodrama and ridicularity of the plot. And this is due to the direction of Richard Day.
This is just the movie for you if you are feeling down or of you just need some new one-liners. I had a great time watching it and I think you will too.

This is one of the funniest films of all time for me. Full of great one liners and hilarious situations. Completely over the top but grounded just enough in reality to keep you involved. A must have!

I've rented this movie so many times that it really is time that I bought my own copy. The story is light and cheesy, the lines are a scream and the comedy is top notch. Not only that, but the theme song will stay with you for a few days. Pick it up and be prepared to laugh!

The best gay comedy in quite a while. Great production values, a great cast including the famous Miss Coco from "Trick" and wild special effects makes this one a keeper. Lot's of extras too.
